Global Finance Director



We are currently looking for an outstanding Finance Director with experience of working within a global company to join our team.

You will oversee all financial aspects of this multi million global business that has 30% year on year growth. You will be responsible for company strategy and have full control of the flow of financial information to the chief executive, the board and, where necessary, external parties such as financial institutions.

With over 160 staff globally, the head office in Glasgow and other offices located in London, Boston, Hong Kong & we are currently in the process of opening an office in Switzerland. We Trade in over 6000 cities and are growing at a rapid rate.

We are constantly innovating and found our success on strong IT investment and in-house software development. Our software is used by over 6000 affiliates globally and has to be available 24/7.

Main Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Overall control of the company’s global accounting function 
  • Financial planning and related ongoing advice for the owner and senior management 
  • Overall control of all financial transactions and accountancy matters, including audit systems 
  • Corporate finance: managing company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity and acquisitions, as appropriate 
  • Preparing annual accounts 
  • Ensuring that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met regarding all the company’s financial affairs 
  • Ensure team SLA’s are met in line with company expectations 
  • Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation. 
  • Analysing competitors and market trends 
  • Liaising with auditors to ensure annual monitoring is carried out 
  • Manage working capital tightly 
  • Ensure creditors are paid in line with agreed terms 
  • Producing accurate financial reports to specific deadlines 
  • Prepare and maintain KPI reports as required by the owner

Payroll 

Oversee all payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner
Negotiate and manage the employee insurance and benefits plans
Process and submit statutory and benefits remittances on time
Issue annual T4s and T4As


Budget Preparation 

Formulating financial targets and budgets in accordance with the strategy determined by the board
Work closely with US and Asia offices to agree budgets and prepare business plans


Project Management Accounting 

Maintain financial records for each project in a manner that facilitates management reports
Ensure that accurate and timely financial statements are prepared in accordance with contract agreements
Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activity of individual projects
High level procurement


Risk Management 

Monitor risk management policies and procedures to ensure that program and organisational risks are minimized
Advise the organisation's leadership on appropriate insurance coverage for the organisation and the Board of Directors
Maximize income where possible and appropriate
Liaise / report & negotiate with Bank for lines of credit or other financial services as required and appropriate


Information Technology 

Evaluate the need for new technology to meet the organization's financial data processing, control, and reporting requirements
Advise on appropriate technology that meets the organization's information requirements and financial resources


Office Admin
 
Oversee and supervise the administrative function of the finance department
Oversee the management of all leases, contracts and other financial commitments
Monitor all legislation relevant to the organisation and all regulations on professional certification to ensure that the organisation is compliant


Performance Management 

Support and encourage accounts staff in further education & development
Ensure that all team employees receive a minimum of one documented coaching session per week leading to quarterly performance reviews when possible

Education and Experience

  • Degree-level education 
  • Qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification 
  • Significant experience in finance, with at least five years in senior management. 
  • Experience of managing professional staff
